There are several ways to incorporate splashes of color into your designs. In one of my recent blog posts I discussed adding pops of color through decorative pillows. A more dramatic way to add to your space is by using architectural details, specifically tile. Tile truly comes in every color way known to man and can be created for every space. I recently did some digging and came across some of these cool tiles...

Tiles come in so many elements from glass, to ceramic, porcelain, cement, and clay. I'm sure i've missed a few, but none the less there are so many options in materials to chose from. Tile can be multi-purposed to be used on floors, walls, backsplashes, ceilings, in bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, and more. You can never go wrong when it comes to tile. The key to using this precious architectural element is like any other pattern use. Choose the appropriate scale, color, size, and placement to get the best overall design. Similar to fabrics, you need to think through what other patterns will be part of the space so that you don't overwhelm the eyes with too much going on. If it doesn't have legs tile it. No seriously, use tile if you want to add a unique element in your space. It is a bit more of an investment but it certainly is long lasting so the ROI is there. Try a small space like a powder bathroom or a kitchen backsplash to see what you think. It really will transform your space, especially when it is complimented with a great paint color, and accessories. Go ahead, add that splash of tile!
